Four Seasons Hotel Doha
Doha, Qatar

Understanding local cultures, bridging the communication gap, and 8,000 miles between office and job site were the challenges associated with The Four Seasons Doha. The hotel was accomplished with locally supplied fixtures and lamps; a challenge in itself. Drama and warmth was created through varied lighting sources and multiple overlapping lighting layers. Five-Star quality aesthetic results with an Arabic flair were enhanced with xenon coves, adjustable halogen accents, and carefully coordinated decorative fixtures. Local culture was integrated into decorative fixtures. The warm glow established at the front door is a theme followed throughout. Even in complex spaces. Careful study of long life lamping and dimming controls assisted maintenance and energy consumption. Dimming was also necessary reacting to intense infiltration of the desert sunlight. Public spaces change their ambiance completely after sunset on the Persian Gulf. Mandated performance criteria was matched and carefully studied in a culture that usually requires more lighting than citizens in North America are accustomed to.
