The Joule Hotel

The Joule Hotel had gone through a significant renovation and addition to revitalize the 1920’s Neo-Gothic building which already had a significant reputation as one of the top boutique style hotels. Located in Dallas’ central business district, the client’s goal was to feature dramatic art installations and offer new pieces to Dallas' boutique retail. An award winning restaurant and world class spa required a top-notch design team and LLD’s lighting design was a major contributor to the project’s success.

 

The LLD 11,500 square foot scope of work for the spa included a salon and fitness area that had the same high expectations for design and aesthetics as the core spa areas. The spa spaces are one level below the street and lobby level, creating an additional challenge for LLD as there was no access to natural light. Fine balancing and positioning of light sources allowed inviting visual layering as the design embodies the goal of peace and calm which is exactly what makes these spaces thrive.
