Lost Pines Resort

Bastrop, Texas

The Lost Pines Resort was a truly unique project for LLD; one of the first true hotel resort projects for LLD. The Resort is nestled on 405 acres along the Lower Colorado River only a 20 minute drive from Austin. In some ways, the site lighting design was very challenging due to the multi-mile resort entry road which LLD was responsible for every foot of, and once arriving at the resort, there was an overall vibe that needed to be respected: the balance of providing safety for guests, but at the same time keep the lighting quiet and out of people’s faces. Surrounding the resort buildings are enormous pecan trees which we took advantage of by placing downlighting deep within them, creating patterns on the grounds. The interior architecture is very Texas Hill Country style with exposed beams and refined rustic finishes. Carefully negotiated decorative lighting attempted to provide ambient lighting and LLD layers targeted accent lighting throughout the public front of house lobbies, restaurants, bar, spa and meeting spaces.
