A Tasteful Place
Dallas Arboretum

Following a long list of prestigious design teams and award-winning projects, the multi-purpose pavilion at the Dallas Arboretum, better known as A Tasteful Place, was inspired by the national movement towards growing and eating sustainable, locally sourced food. It is obvious the building has no visual barriers between inside and outside. The lighting must reinforce that concept at every step reacting to the gardens surrounding it to sunset views of downtown Dallas over White Rock Lake. Every square inch of the pavilion, including ceilings, were collaborated on, and adjusted so they work as one seamless solution. There is not a "hair out of place" in this building. An organized sloped ceiling opens itself to the sky and the lighting scheme accentuates the form of the building. In the professional demonstration kitchen area, there is carefully planned lighting for national television broadcasts hidden behind pivoting access panels that only reveal themselves when necessary for the likes of Martha Stewart or Bobby Flay.
